Born on August 8, 1934, in Murukkumpuzha, James Gomez Thangassery was the son of late Simon Cruz Gomes and Mary Glory.

He completed his technical education from Trivandrum Engineering College in 1955. He later served in the Indian Defence Services under the MES Wing from 1958 to 1964, including a tenure in Ladakh (56 APO), along with postings in Kolkata and Chennai.

Before his Gulf journey, he also worked as an instructor at ITI Kollam and briefly engaged in business in Kerala.


Journey to Abu Dhabi and Professional Growth

In 1968, James Gomez Thangassery moved to Abu Dhabi in search of better opportunities. His early career in the UAE included roles as:

  • Store Keeper at Santa Fe Drilling Company
  • Store Keeper at Abu Dhabi Defence Services

From 1976 to 1994, he worked with Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company in the Supply and Transport Divisions, gaining extensive experience in procurement and operations.

  • G.B. Qubaisi Construction Company
  • Al Bariz General Contracting & Maintenance

James Gomez Thangassery is married to Patricia, a retired staff member of Central Hospital Abu Dhabi.

  • Dr. Beena – Gynecologist at Lifeline Hospital Abu Dhabi (daughter-in-law)
