The Indian Association of Ajman was officially established in 2001, under an Amiri Decree issued by his Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member of United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Ajman.

The main objective of the association was to cater to the needs of the Indian expatriates and to liaison with different expatriate Missions, Associations, Embassies, Consulates and to conduct social gatherings for the members and their families. It was also intended to develop and promote a rich cultural heritage between the two nations.

The declared policy of the association was to remain a non-profit making, non- religious and non- political organization. It has also envisaged to maintain a cordial relationship between UAE nationals and various expatriate communities living in Ajman and other neighboring Emirates of UAE.

The current activities of the Indian Association in Ajman include services like Renewal of Indian Passports issued in India and UAE or elsewhere, Attestation of documents and other miscellaneous consular services like receiving and delivering UAE National Visa Applications. In recognition to its services, Indian consulate has awarded the association with a right to conduct Consular Services at the association premises every Friday.

The Indian Association of Ajman also renders charity and humanitarian services for which they have received so many accolades from the Local Government, Indian Missions, Leaders and Senior Diplomats.

It also undertakes visits to Local government Hospitals, Central Jails, Local Police Station Cells, Police Head Quarters, Finger Prints Police Cells and extend services to the needy. Another major contribution of the Association is that it interferes in the labor disputes, offer free air tickets for the inmates of Jails and Free Medical Aid to the Community Members by doctors who are members of the Association.

It has a fifty member team of founder members who play a prominent role in making decisions on all the administrative and operational matters of the association. On the other hand a 15 member Managing Committee selected from among the 50 Founder Members are responsible for running the day to day affairs of the association. In addition, three more members are inducted into the Managing Committee from among the Life Member category by mode of draw.

At present the Indian Association in Ajman have a total strength of 700 members of which 50 each are Founder and Associated Members and 600 Life Members on the rolls.
