Krishna Prasad is the Managing Director of Astor Marine Cargo LLC, Dubai.
A Graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Warangal (the then Regional Engineering College) and a Post Graduate in Business Administration from the globally reputed Indian Institute of Management, Kolkatta,Krishna Prasad started his career with India’s National Carrier, The Shipping Corporation of India . After nearly 10 years with SCI he moved on as the Country Representative in India for Puyvast Chartering bv, Holland, a regular Liner operator out of India. In 1999 he joined the ship management arm of the Sharaf Group in Dubai. Later he became the Managing Director of Huadao Shipping, a subsidiary of B M Shipping, Italy..He later joined Tradex Marine Global as a Director on Board until he decided to set up his own firm Aster Marine Cargo LLC in 2010. Aster Marine Cargo is involved in ship-broking, project cargo logistics and consultancy.
During his two decade long shipping career, Krishna Prasad has had hands on experience in Ship-broking, Ship-operations and Ship- Management both from an owner’s perspective as well a charterers perspective. He was also briefly involved with Liner Shipping and Forwarding.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, London.He is a founder member and Branch Secretary of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Madras Branch.He is in the Leadership Team of the Supply Chain and Logistics Group, a business group under the Dubai Chamber.
He initiated the Annual Lecture Series in the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Chennai and later in the ICS UAE Branch which has become popular over the years.
Mr. Krishna Prasad has also presented papers at many renowned International Shipping Seminars and Conferences. He has also been a visiting faculty in many Institutes and Universities,in India and in Dubai.He also conducts corporate training programmes and has undertaken consultancy assignments to many companies in India and the Middle East.
Krishna Prasad is married to Dr.Nalina and they have two daughters. Eldest Deepti Prasad is pursuing research in Molecular Biology and second daughter Deepika Prasad in the 8th grade.
