Binesh Panicker, an accomplished journalist and publisher, is the editor-in-chief and co-founder of Media Lab Publishers LLC. The company was launched in August 2012 and their first magazine, Property Times, was released in December 2012. The magazine, with an initial print run of 20,000 copies, soon became a top brand in the real estate media sector and in January 2013, its circulation was doubled to 40,000 copies.
During Cityscape Global held in Dubai in September 2013, Media Lab released Property Times elite, a high-end coffee table book featuring leading developers, real estate agents and established communities. It became an instant hit among discerning investors and buyers and Media Lab is all set to publish its second edition soon. The publishing house is also successfully running a property search portal, www.propertyonline.ae.
The success of the Property Times brand resulted in the launch of Property Times People’s Choice Real Estate Awards, a first-of-its-kind concept in the region, wherein winners are chosen by customers through online voting. The award night was held in May 2015 and was attended by close to 400 people including Consulate Generals, government officials, developers, bank executives and real estate brokers. Inspired by the success of the real estate brokers’ awards, Media Lab has also launched People’s Choice Awards for Developers. Today, Property Times is an undisputed leader in Dubai real estate media sector and continues to register a robust growth.
Media Lab Publishers has recently acquired the rights to publish Dubai International Airport and City Guide on behalf of Dubai Airports Authority. The guide, with 100,000 copies in circulation every two months, is distributed at all the three terminals of Dubai airport. The company has also signed an agreement with Australian stock exchange-listed company Urbanise to launch an exclusive home maintenance online portal.
Binesh, born and brought up in Kerala, moved to Mumbai in 2003, where he worked as a sales executive and call centre executive. Later he became a senior editorial coordinator in Index Furniture Journal, a magazine dedicated to architects and interior designers. He came to Dubai in 2008 and worked as a sub editor at the Gulf News for three years before launching Media Lab.
Son of Babu Narayan and Lalitha Babu, Binesh is a native of Thonnakkal in Thiruvananthapuram district. He completed his schooling at Thonnakkal Government High School and higher education at University College, Thiruvananthapuram. Binesh is married to Seebha, managing director of Aabha Airco LLC, which offers services including installation and maintenance of air-condition, ventilations, air filtration systems and electro-mechanical equipment, installation of electricity transmission and control apparatus and lifts and escalators contracting. The couple has a daughter, Aabha.
